About me
I grew up in the small college town of Charleston, Illinois, and began my career as a reporter for local and regional newspapers in Illinois, Indiana and Arizona.
In 2000, I joined The Associated Press in Indianapolis, covering general assignment, state government and a variety of other stories. Within a few years, I shifted into an editor's role and later joined AP's team of New York-based national editors. In 2008, news executives created the Top Stories Desk with a hand-picked group of experienced staffers.
